CASE STUDY: CORPORATE NEWSLETTER

THE NEED
A senior manager at a drug company wanted to create a newsletter designed to motivate team members in their continuing work on a long-term project. The newsletter would recognize the extraordinary efforts of the team members and also communicate timely information on project status. The desired communication tool was an electronic newsletter that could be sent to employees via internal email.

THE PROCESS
A name was selected for the newsletter and a graphic designer created an attractive, full-color template, including a masthead with the company’s logo and the newsletter title. A senior editor met with the client to determine creative themes and develop a list of contacts who would be interviewed. The newsletter articles were written based on the information gained during the interviews, and then the editor coordinated all reviews and revisions. After management had approved all copy, the designer imported the final text into the on-line template, and the newsletter was distributed to selected recipients on the company’s email system.

THE OUTCOME
The eye-catching graphic design, the timely delivery of project status information, and the motivational and informative text were all a hit with the company’s employees. Their enthusiastic response resulted in a request from the drug company for continued assistance with a series of newsletters for the project team.
