Barbara P. Smyser, Ph.D., acts as a scientific writer and as a GLP Study
Director for a variety of environmental fate and residue studies, as well as
Technical Project Manager. Barbara's experience also includes preparing
scientific arguments/position papers and summarizing higher tier documents.
Barbara has 22 years of regulatory and research experience in Environmental
Studies, Biochemistry, and Registration Chemistry at three Fortune 500
companies. Her strong scientific foundation qualifies her for our senior
position in fate and metabolism issues. She also acts as Study Director and
Study Monitor for a variety of GLP studies on such species as rat, goat, and
hen. She has experience leading technical teams in Discovery Research as well as
in Development. Barbara has also investigated technical issues, such as
bioaccumulation potential in mammalian tissues, field dissipation across various
soil types, and isolation/identification of complex metabolites in plant and
animal tissues.
Barbara earned her M.S. in Botany and Plant Pathology from the University of
Maine and her Ph.D. in Toxicology from North Carolina State University. She has
also earned graduate credits in the Regulatory Affairs-Quality Assurance
Certificate Program at Temple University School of Pharmacy.
